when in Rome

After a deep night's sleep, we awake to full sun. Standing fully nude in the window to feel the warmth streaming in feels so delicious. ( no shame ) Vancouver had been quite liquid for months and sun this bright has been greatly missed!

Now dressed we seek out breakfast, there are two options - American or Japanese. We find our way to the authentic experience. It is a delicious feast and we fill our tummies! There are tiny shrimp-like critters with eyes, seaweed, pickled plum, herbal rice, warm broth, and fish of every kind.

When in Rome, eat Japanese food!!

With full bellies we wander this historic and stunning hotel, you can feel the memories within, an imprint of past visitors from across time. Guests speak with library voices, there seems to be an understood reverence of quiet without any signs asking for it.

Looking to walk off our indulgent breakfast we don our jackets for the crips air of Minato City and lose ourselves in its streets. Hidden forests, organic buildings, and groups of tiny go-carts with drivers dressed in Mario-styled onesies are a few of the sights.

We stop at a tower that resembles the Eiffel in Paris, but this one is red and white. A disco-styled elevator whisks us up to the midsection of Tokyo Tower with 360-degree views. Here we discover a section of glass looking to the ground below that brings a butterfly or two while walking over it. Escaping the gift shops we were spat out into, we meander with the sun watching us closely.

After an evening snack in the Starlight lounge overlooking the lights of Minato, we return to our suite to find a Silversea invitation under the door requesting our presence for a pre-sail luncheon.

This is the art of departure.

What delights will we experience?
