it’s never goodbye…
Today we depart for Tokyo after three delicious months in Vancouver. Many friendships have been formed over this short time. Goodbye seems wrong to say, we know we’ll see everyone again! The last to hug before leaving is our amazing concierge at the beautiful lease in Coal Harbour. What a stunning soul! We had the privilege to sit with him and behold his stories days before departing.
Our Blakelane driver delivers us in high-end comfort to the airport. He shares an abridged version of his life story - born in India and spent half of his life in Italy. His style is divine and resembles one who transports kings. His soul is gentle and soft-spoken.
After sussing out the first lounge option, Air Canada you can do better, we flee to the next. A section of this lounge, which is greatly elevated has a minimal entry fee, which discourages the average traveler. The difference is vast, picture a school cafeteria setting on one side and a Parisian-style cafe on the other. Our fellow business class travelers refuse to pay the extra $30 for a stunning experience. A choice.
We settle into this private and stunning lounge where we are doted on with white glove service while watching planes disperse themselves across the skies. What a way to start!
The flight is smooth like butter and I must admit I am teary-eyed as we fly over the archipelago of islands on the west coast where I once called home. Eventually, the clouds consume the scene below and I know in my soul that the world is now my home.
A Japanese-styled dinner is served as we both settle into a film. Emotions tend to feel deeper at high elevations, this film turns both our faces to liquid. We laugh as we try to hide our tears from the hostess.
After a few hours’ nap, we land and are ushed from our gate past long lines and out to black car service. Though a bit bleary-eyed the experience is wonderful.
Nestled in our hotel suite at the Okura Prestige Hotel, Trevor is now pushing all the buttons on the fancy toilet. It’s like a water feature!
My curiosity is getting the better of me and I must go check it out!
